You can find some great deals on lab equipment if you know where to look but there are a few things you must watch for. Many times a site will advertise a fantastic, below cost sale but, as with any other merchandise, buyer beware! Check around. No matter how good they say the sale is, you may find it at a better price elsewhere.

That said, you must consider the quality of your equipment as well as the price. Buying an used incufridge for half the price of a new one is a bargain only if it is practically new. If you buy an old refrigeration unit for your specimens and it fails after a few months, think of all the hours of work and research that will be ruined for the sake of saving a couple of hundred dollars!
